Hello World!

Welcome to our virtual home “page.” We hope that after getting to know our website, you would at least have learned something interesting, and be part of our early product build up & release.

About Us

Holorun is a computer Hardware & Software startup, located in the city of Costa Mesa, Orange County, California, USA.

Our area of development is in the 3D technology consumer space, specifically computer devices that can display data in 2D & 3D. Where we interact, and embed our 3D perception of reality in such machines, similar to what Virtual & Augmented Reality (VR/AR/MR), Screens, & Holograms can almost do.

Personal Computer

The evolution of personal computers has been a fascinating journey, marked by significant technological advancements, and changes in each form it existed. A tool that profoundly impacted, and advanced our daily lives. From the rise of desktops or “home computers” to laptops, tablets, smartphones, watches, onto the realm of virtual reality, almost anyone can experience such a powerful personal informative display, used by all it's means.

Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality / Hologram / Screen, are real 3D?

Looking at how personal computers (phones, tablets, laptops, even projectors) have emerged to become personal where we almost carry, and use most of our time. So too, VR technology has continued to evolve, with its advancements in display resolutions, tracking systems, and motion controllers. Additionally, augmented reality (AR) technologies, which overlay digital information onto the real world, have become increasingly popular emerging into almost one VR\AR entity.

However, can we ultimately say that VR/AR is a final, fully, 3D, embedded, immersive solution capable of virtually imitating our real 3D world, and more? Where for now, it's only a wearable feature, and by looking at a screen/scene tricking our eyes, thinking that it's real 3D! Knowing too, that screen technology does not actually represent real 3D sceneries.

The expectation of VR/AR/MR is to play a significant role in how we interact, and experience 2D & 3D digital content, immersive environments, and more in our daily lives. But is it actually completed? Or is it perhaps, that VR/AR/MR tech doesn't necessarily have to be used at all times, maybe just for certain tasks?

What if I don't want to disconnect from my own reality? and still view virtual embedded 3D, to interact without wearing something for hours? like screens can do! The end goal here, is the display, no? The more details, and faster access to such view, the better for us. However, is there something in between?

No Optics, No Display

Apparently there is! And that's what we’re working on, a computer that can be used easily like your phone or other personal computer devices, where you get to experience a real 3D, embedded, immersive, overlaying display, without wearing or looking at a screen. How?

To put it in very simple terms for the technical / non-technical user, any display available in this world, LCD, LED, or OLED, You name it! must work with optics. It's simply like this, without your glasses, you can’t see.

Projector

In the topic of how display technology works, an example can be given, for a display that functions without a screen, are projectors. This device can project an image onto a screen or flat surface using a light source, optics, and other components, resulting in a large scale of display, on any clean or suitable flat surface. Since we need a wall to project the image, there are new methods to create a display using real 3D space to project an image in 3D!

New Era: Volume of Display (VoD)

In order for us to display a virtual scene in mid air, without a screen, wall, or any flat surface, using the volume of space that surrounds us. We can accomplish it, by using a scientific optical method, called “Optical Tweezers” or “Optical Trap.” This method is based on a light source, with a specific set up of lenses, that can trap, or hold the levitating particles, in the light field of the projected area. Particles are in micrometer size, our eyes can't detect them, their carbon base abstracted from plants, which are not harmful to us. The optical trap can hold these tiny particles, where it can be controlled, or moved around using photonics: "LCD" or "SLM" to modify or change the phase of light. Since we’re using real 3D volume of space, we have the freedom of creating real 3D shape of objects in volume, using the particles. For which, we shine light, to view or render colors, and graphics in mid-air, without the necessity of physical screens.
